Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has deepened its converged offerings with the launch its hybrid platform, HPE Synergy, designed to run both on-premise and Cloud applications along with a Cloud brokerage service.
HPE said the Synergy platform leverages fluid resource pools, software defined intelligence and a unified API to help organisations find the right mix of traditional and private Cloud.
It is said to combine compute, storage and networking fabric visible through HPE’s OneView and composes physical and virtual resources into any configuration for any application.
HPE director servers and converged systems South Pacific, Raj Thakur, said market data clearly shows that a hybrid combination of traditional IT and private Clouds would dominate the market in the next five years.
“Organisations are looking to capitalise on the speed and agility of the cloud but want the reliability and security of running business critical applications in their own datacentres,” he said.
To coincide with this, the vendor has launched its HPE Helion Managed Cloud Broker, a managed service for managing services across multiple Cloud workloads.
The vendor said the broker service gives control and visibility over IT assets including on-premise, private and public Cloud.
HPE managing director South Pacific, Nick Wilson, said Cloud computing promised organisations significant advantages in terms of speed, agility and lower costs, but those advantages were lost due to unmanaged or uncoordinated Cloud instances.
“Giving clients a single view of their IT activities and helps businesses accelerate innovation in an orchestrated, secure and cost-effective manner,” he said.
The vendor claims its Cloud broker will support a full range of the HPE Helion portfolio, including HPE Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud, HPE Helion CloudSystem and HPE Helion OpenStack, as well as traditional data centre services and a range of public Cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. It will be offered as a managed service in a consumption based model and will be generally available in 2016.
