Data protection and information management company, Commvault, has partnered with converged infrastructure company, Nutanix, in launching new features of its data platform to extend snapshot management capabilities to include the Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform (XCP).
Commvault and Nutanix claim the deal will help joint enterprise customers address the challenges of managing data.
Commvault senior director, solutions marketing and technical alliances, Don Foster, said the offering automates the creation of application-aware hardware snapshot copies across Nutanix environments and catalogs snapshot data to simplify the recovery of individual files, databases or virtual machines.
“Ultimately, this provides customers with fast access and recovery, not just for data loss events, but also to drive development, test, and analytical queries,” he added.
The vendor went on to say the integration would help accelerate the use of snapshots in the hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) stack. It claimed the features address increasing global customer demand for software-based HCI to improve overall efficiencies and scale with current hypervisor environments.
