Amcom makes $12.9m deal with SA Health

Just months into the merger with service provider, Vocus Communications, telecommunications company, Amcom, has signed a major contract with SA Health to deliver data and network services across the state for three years.

The announcement comes off the back of Amcom’s appointment as a key supplier to the South Australian Government Network Carriage Services (NCS) panel and is valued at $12.9 million and the major contract will see Vocus deliver data and network services across all SA Health services.

Amcom and Vocus Communications CEO, James Spenceley, said the deal reflects the time taken to build relationships with government sectors, including SA Health to understand what they were looking for in a partner.

“The new contract is a positive step towards continuing our growth in the government sector across the country.

“With a number of projects already on the go in both Western Australia and the Northern Territory, the new deal in South Australia, which spans all SA Health services across the state, will continue to build our experience and expertise in the government sector,” he said.

Spenceley also claimed winning this contract recognises its unique approach to market.

“Unlike many other telcos, we truly understand what businesses are trying to achieve and we don’t deliver a ‘business as usual solution’. Our approach is to think of the future needs of the business, not just the here and now. SA Health recognised this and ultimately our goals aligned with theirs.”

The contract between Amcom and SA Health is initially in place for three years, with two, three year extension options.

“The contract with SA Health is just the beginning. We look forward to working with more South Australian government agencies to help them to deliver strong returns on their ICT investment and accelerate their future roadmaps,” Spenceley said.
