How to win in the digital economy: Accenture

Placing people first should be a top priority for companies in the digital age.

Companies that develop a ‘people first’ approach, will most likely be the top winners in the digital economy, according to Accenture’s report Technology Vision 2016.

Companies that equip employees, partners and consumers with new skills can fully capitalise on upcoming tech innovation, the report said.

“Companies that embrace digital can empower their workforce to continuously learn new skills to do more with technology and generate bigger and better business results,” Accenture CTO, Paul Daugherty, said.

Accenture also ran a companion survey that involved more than 3100 business and IT executives worldwide including Australia, which found 33 per cent of the global economy is already impacted by digital. Additionally, 86 percent of survey respondents anticipate that the pace of technology change will increase at a rapid or unprecedented rate over the next three years.

The report also identified five technology trends critical to digital success including intelligent automation such as artificial intelligence, robotics and augmented reality; liquid workforce, which will see companies create highly adaptable and change-ready environments; platform economy where platform-based business models will capture new growth opportunities; predictable disruption and digital trust, which focuses on digital ethics.
