Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has been conducting a strategic review of its distributor relationships in the Australian marketplace.
It is understood that the review has come about since HP spun off its enterprise division and the acquisition of Aruba, which took place last year.
The distribution line up involves Dicker Data, Ingram Micro, Avnet, Lynx Technologies, Synnex, Westcon, Distribution Central and Sektor, which were asked to respond to a tender process.
Dicker Data chairman and chief executive, David Dicker, confirmed the distributor had made its submission on January 18, along with Ingram Micro.
“We have not heard anything yet but we are confident that we will retain the HPE portfolio,” he added.
“Enterprise deployments are complicated and vendors need partners that know what they are doing and can provide the support that is required, it is way beyond trivial.”
Avnet Technology Solutions A/NZ vice president and general manager, Darren Adams, said Hewlett Packard Enterprise is an important element of its business, working across the portoflio that encompases storage, servers, networks and software.
“In Australia, we’ve had them in our line card for more than a decade and they were one of the original franchises of our value distribution business in America for more than 30 years,” he said. “We’re definitely keen to continue our relationship.”
Distributors haven’t received any further notice at this stage about the results of the review or the number of distributors HPE intend to keep.
According to a HPE spokesperson, the company is committed to undertaking all efforts to ensure it can collectively deliver industry leading solutions, drive business transformation and growth for customers in the most efficient way possible.
