EXCLUSIVE: Avnet and Synnex miss out as Hewlett Packard Enterprise makes Aussie distie decision

Hewlett Packard Enterprise finally makes Aussie distie call.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has chosen Dicker Data, Distribution Central, Ingram Micro, Lynx Technologies and Sektor as its distribution partners for 2016 and beyond, following an extensive review of its Australian processes.

Terms of the deal see Avnet and Synnex miss out on distributing the core Hewlett Packard Enterprise portfolio, following the tech giant’s public distribution review, coming three days later than the original February 8 decision date.

Effective May 1, 2016, ARN can confirm that the vendor will now be partnering with three of its current core distributors in Dicker Data, Ingram Micro and Lynx Technologies, as well as Distribution Central and also Sektor through the Aruba Networks acquisition - which means Westcon, a previous Aruba distributor, also misses out.

Terms of the tender sees Sektor covering Aruba Networks - acquired by Hewlett Packard Enterprise - and Hewlett Packard Enterprise networking solutions only.

“Subsequent to the recent acquisition of Aruba, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Group undertook an RFI (Request For Information) process to review and optimise the combined distribution framework available to our valued resellers,” an emailed HPE statement to partners stated.

“The aim was to consolidate and better serve the channel in South Pacific. Existing HPE and Aruba partners were asked to participate in the RFI process.

“After an extensive review by an RFI panel consisting of delegates from across the organisation, the decisions have been reached with respect to which of the existing Distributors will be appointed as HPE Distributors moving forward, providing products for the combined Enterprise Group solutions, including Aruba.”

Of note is that the RFI did not include the HPE Software Business Unit, with the company stating that distributors currently Distributing HPE Software are not impacted by this RFI announcement.
