Cylance regional director APAC, Andy Solterbeck
IT security company, Cylance, has ramped up its push into the APAC region with three new executive appointments in A/NZ.
The California-based company has named Andy Solterbeck as regional director of the new Asia-Pacific team. Solterbeck was previously senior vice-president of business development for Telstra Software Group. At Telstra, he was responsible for leading the product team for managed services and Industry Solutions. Prior to this, he was general manager for RSA in A/NZ.
“A/NZ is an aggressive adopter of new and emerging technologies, most recently demonstrated with our rapid adoption of Cloud and virtualisation,” Solterbeck said.
“From the discussions we’ve had, the current approach to cybersecurity is undergoing fundamental re-evaluation, as existing technologies are failing our customers. Understanding this market need has validated our strategy for A/NZ to be Cylance’s launch pad into the Asia-Pacific region.”
Greg Singh has been appointed regional director of sales engineering. Singh has previous experience with vendors Splunk, QuintessenceLabs, Blue Coat Systems and RSA, as well as service providers Optus, AAPT and British Telecom.
In addition, Hwei Oh was named director of marketing. Oh was most recently head of channels and alliances marketing for Asia-Pacific and Japan at FireEye and previously served as head of marketing for A/NZ at Sophos.
Cylance claims its point of difference is its security algorithm that uses machine learning to adapt to new forms of malware that have not yet been detected. The company said it can train the software to recognise malicious activity on an endpoint and address it.
Cylance said this means the program requires less storage and processing power than traditional endpoint security solutions.
