Women in Technology (WIT) Queensland has partnered with Diverse City Careers (DCC) to drive gender equality across the IT industry and life sciences.
Together, the organisations look to build awareness through a variety of campaigns including STEMed to be held in Brisbane on May 29, 2016. The one day festival surrounds education for the future and was designed to bring together experts, advocates, educators, parents and youth.
According to WIT president, Fiona Hayes, addressing the diversity agenda takes the combined efforts of many. She said, “Our vision is to advance, connect and empower women in technology and life sciences and we’re excited about collaborating with DCC to achieve greater outcomes for both our communities.”
DCC co-founder, Valeria Ignatieva, added, “It is through partnership that we can amplify our efforts to help organisations build more inclusive workplaces and for women to pursue rewarding careers across any industry.”
DCC was started by co-founders Gemma Lloyd and Valeria Ignatieva and the company’s job board is Australia’s only board requiring employers to be pre-qualified before advertising to ensure they support women’s careers.
WIT builds mutually beneficial partnerships between industry, government and academia and advocates for their members to advance the presence and status of women in technology and life sciences.
