IT consulting company, CGI, has won a five-year contract with the Queensland State Government worth $58.8 million to implement and manage a debt recovery solution.
The solution, named CGI Collections360, will provide the government’s State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) with a single integrated system that uses automation analytics to increase collections and reductions in debts.
Queensland State Government treasurer, Curtis Pitt said the solution will make it easier for people who want to pay their fines, and at the same time, make it harder for repeat offenders to get away with non-payment.
He added that it also offers greater support for those who genuinely need it.
"Five years ago, the SPER primary debt collector for the Queensland Government handled around 760,000 new unpaid fines and penalties per year.
"That number doubled to more than 1.5 million new unpaid fines and penalties in the last financial year, stretching SPER's resources and ageing the IT system to their limits."
“CGI’s responsive solution will provide global best practices in debt recovery, customer profiling, payments and channel management,” CGI president Asia-Pacific, Colin Holgate, said.
“CGI has a 30-year track record of successful collections implementations for Governments across the world and 11 projects alone have so far secured revenue benefits of $5.7 billion. This is money that our clients have independently certified would not have been collected without our solutions,” he added.
The service is expected to begin following completion of the implementation project in Q2 2017 with an optional two year extension to the contract.
