Who made it to the 2016 ACOMMS shortlist?

Communications Alliance and Communications Day reveal finalists

Australian telecommunications industry body, Communications Alliance, and Communications Day have announced the finalists in the communications industry’s awards for excellence, the ACOMMS, which recognise achievement across 11 categories of endeavour.

Under the innovation (large) category, Ericsson, Telstra and Ciena; along with Telstra Corporation and Vodafone Hutchison Australia and the Vodafone Foundation made it to the shortlist.

Cisco Systems Australia, Nokia, and Optus Mobile were selected for the vendor innovation (large) awards, while ECConnect, NEXTDC, and Symbio Networks made the cut for the vendor innovation (emerging) category.

For commitment to customer service, Macquarie Telecom, Southern Phone Company, and Vodafone Hutchison Australia made the shortlist.

Cisco Systems, Creator Tech, and Telstra Corporation were selected for the services to industry – professional services category, while Fonality and Optus Mobile were picked for best mobile solution. Cisco Systems Australia, NetComm Wireless, and Telstra Corporation made the IoT innovator category cut.

As for the community contribution category, Conexu Foundation, Southern Phone Company, Telco Together Foundation, Telstra Corporation, and Vodafone Hutchison Australia and Vodafone Foundation are named as finalists.

Optus Satellite and SpeedCast are contenders for the satellite provider of the year title.

The shortlist and winners of the best marketing initiative and communications ambassador will only be announced on the night of the awards.

The ACOMMS will be presented at a gala industry event in Sydney on July 20.

Communications Alliance CEO, John Stanton, said the activities underlying the nominations bear testimony to the strength of innovation that is driving the Australian communications.

“It is heartening to see that our industry is invested to go above and beyond to help the community.

“In recognition of this, the community contribution award will go to two worthy nominations. There are great stories behind the commitment to excellence on display from all finalists. I congratulate and wish them well for the ACOMMS Awards night,” he said.
