Microsoft has extended its new Skype for Business voice conferencing service via Office 365 to Australia, which will land in the country on September 1.
Revealed via a company blog post, the new Cloud-based service is based on a real-time network that spans the vendor's global datacentres in 40 countries, delivering secure voice and video traffic around the world.
By combining Office 365 and PSTN conferencing, Microsoft said participants can use a dial-in number to join Skype for Business meetings from any device.
“The new features can simplify unified communications environments,” Microsoft Australia applications and services lead, Fiona Sims, said.
“They also offer the benefits of one platform and provider to meet all communications needs, simple pricing as fees are per user, per month, meaning less need for expensive on-premises hardware.”
Sims added that partners in the local ecosystem will be key in helping to extend the new services to Microsoft customers.
“This local ecosystem is a key differentiator for Microsoft, with our partners offering deep experience in delivering communications solutions, across planning, deployment, adoption and usage," she added.
These skills include helping customers integrate with vertical applications and Skype consumer solutions."
