Optus Business has won a two-year extension to its telecommunication and managed services agreement with ANZ, building upon more than $1 billion worth of contracts between the two companies since 2009.

The enterprise services provider and SingTel subsidiary first established its strategic partnership with ANZ in 2009, when the two companies reached a $500 million, five-year contract for the services.

In 2013, the companies signed a $530 million agreement that saw Optus Business provide the bank with its telecommunications and managed services for a further five-year term.

Now, the companies have inked a deal for the telco to provide the bank with its services until 2020.

The agreement includes domestic and international data network services, mobility, collaboration, contact centre services, and managed services to support ANZ’s operations both in Australia and abroad, throughout 30 countries across the Asia Pacific region.

According to Optus Business managing director, John Paitaridis, the multi-year contract extension with ANZ is testament to Optus Business’ capability, innovation, and demonstrated track record with the bank.

“Our strategic relationship with ANZ continues to go from strength to strength,” Paitaridis said. “We are highly committed to continuing our innovative approach to supporting ANZ’s critical ICT requirements and business operations in Australia and across Asia.”

When the two companies first began working together in 2009, it was to help support ANZ’s expansion in the Asian market, with SingTel Group Enterprise CEO, Bill Chang, citing Singapore-based SingTel’s knowledge and experience in the region.

As part of the initial, 2009, agreement, SingTel was tasked with transforming ANZ’s network infrastructure to support enhanced global communications, providing a single platform for the delivery of voice, data, and managed services to over 34,000 staff.

It also saw the rollout of a data network to more than 850 ANZ branches, and the deployment of over 20,000 IP telephones.

“The services provided by Singtel have played an important role as we use technology to make it easier for our customers to do their banking with us and provide innovative ways for our staff to collaborate,” ANZ CEO, Shayne Elliott, said in a statement.

SingTel Group CEO, Chua Sock Koong, said that the company looked forward to working ANZ for “years to come”.
