Dicker Data (ASX:DDR) has inked a distribution agreement with Quest Software for the Australia and New Zealand market.

The deal, which is effective from 23 November, sees the local technology distributor play a part in Quest’s channel strategy in the local market.

“The partnership with Dicker Data is a strategic move for Quest,” said the software company’s managing director, Klasie Holtzhausen.

“Customers are at the forefront of everything we do, and Dicker Data, with their extensive partner network, brings their undoubted expertise and wide-reaching appeal of our IT management capabilities across mid to large enterprises in A/NZ.

“As more organisations leverage the cloud, [and] deploy mobile applications and virtualisation, our priority is to empower those businesses to spend less time on administration and more time on innovation,” he said.

For Dicker Data CEO and chairman, David Dicker, the new agreement will see the distributor bulk up its offering to meet growing partner demand.

“We’re pleased to be working with the team at Quest to bring their products to market,” said Dicker, said in a statement.

"Our enterprise and mid-market business continues to grow at a pleasing rate, which is driving demand for the solutions offered by Quest. Their range is a strategic fit for our reseller partners.”

The move comes just weeks after buyout firm, Francisco Partners, and the private equity arm of activist hedge fund, Elliott Management Corp, finalise the acquisition of Dell Software Group and the spun-off Quest and SonicWall businesses.

Quest was initially acquired by Dell for $US2.36 million in September 2012. However, with the $US74 billion merger of Dell and EMC coming to completion in September this year, the company subsequently sold off the Quest brand.

In February, Dicker Data was one of several local distributors to receive an expanded offering from pre-merger Dell, following strong channel growth for the vendor across the country.

“We already have existing distribution relationships across Australia and New Zealand with Ingram Micro, Avnet, Hills and Dicker Data and we are committed to these partners and our business together,” said Dell Australia and New Zealand. General Manager of Channels and Alliances, Geoff Wright, at the time.

“With some of the relationships focused on a single product category and some on multiple categories it is only natural that over time we will review the overall distribution offerings, and respond to requests from our partners so as to better serve their needs,” he said.
