Dicker Data (ASX: DDR) has moved to boost its storage standing with the addition of Seagate Technology to its vendor portfolio in Australia.

Dicker Data’s new distribution agreement with Seagate kicked off in January, and forms part of the organisation’s strategy to capture a larger portion of the overall NAS and storage device sale.

In a recent ARN report, Seagate said the demand for high-capacity storage drives mostly comes from enterprises or consumers that can afford them, with the drives mostly used in NAS configurations and storage arrays.

As such, over the next 18 months, the company plans to ship 14TB and 16TB hard drives, it said in January.

The partnership between Dicker Data and Seagate comes just a day after news that Dicker Data has strengthened its cyber security credentials with the addition of Trend Micro to its local distie roster.

Dicker Data CEO, David Dicker, said the Seagate product lines are a complementary addition to many of the existing brands that the local distributor represents.

“We’re pleased to be announcing our new partnership with Seagate. As the number of devices sold and the data generated by those devices continues to grow, so does the requirement for storage across all levels of industry," Dicker said.

“Our partnership with Seagate will also enable us to provide a new alternative to our reseller partners who are purchasing a variety of storage solutions,” he said.

Seagate Technology Australia country manager, Charlie Harb, mentioned that adding Dicker Data will further expand the vendor’s outreach to the growing user segments that demand and can benefit from the latest high capacity drives and storage solutions.

“Seagate is always committed to providing our customers with the right storage solutions they need for the unique workloads of different applications. Through the new partnership, Seagate will be able to help more enterprises and creative professionals in Australia manage their precious data,” Harb said.

The deal also follows other recent distie deals for Dicker Data, including TeamViewer and Quest Software.

Dicker Data's shares stood at $2.48 at the time of writing.
