Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), the wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, has appointed a new channel team across Australia and New Zealand, making four appointments in support of local partner development.

Former Ingram Micro marketing executive, Tim Moodie, has been hired as its new channel marketing manager for A/NZ.

In this role, he is responsible for the planning and execution of strategic channel and alliance partner programs reaching key audiences, driving awareness and creating an opportunity pipeline.

Moodie was with Ingram Micro for more than a year and has also worked for other channel businesses such as Data#3 and NTT Communications ICT Solutions.

Ed Daven, who previously held the channel marketing manager role within HDS, has been promoted to the role of distribution manager for A/NZ, after three years of growing and developing the indirect business for the business.

His remit covers local HDS distributors, Avnet Technology Solutions and Lynx Technologies.

Matt Wilson, who was previously distribution manager at HDS, is now strategic partner manager for New South Wales and New Zealand.

Wilson’s responsibilities include developing go-to-market strategies with specialist consultants, systems integrators and cloud providers that develop solutions-centric applications and services powered by HDS technologies and services.

In addition, the company has promoted Mark Edwards to a new role in alliance and cloud service provider (CSP) partner management. He has been tasked with developing strategic IoT solutions and partnerships that leverage solutions within the broader Hitachi Group.

HDS has been recently making moves to reinforce its channel team. The company most recently hired Tony Whigham as its new government sales director for A/NZ, and former Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) A/NZ general manager of storage, Paul Shaw as its A/NZ northern region sales director.

He added that partners also play a vital role in developing IoT solutions for areas such as public safety, healthcare and smart cities through collaborative creation.

“Digital transformation is not only our strategic message for customers; we are moving to a solutions-centric sell where we need to forge new alliances and ecosystems with alliance and channel partners," Teague said.

“Tim, Ed, Matt and Mark hold critical support roles that enable our partners to leverage our full breadth of solutions and to successfully build their business with Hitachi Data Systems,” he mentioned.
