Data analytics company, Splunk, has appointed ex-juniper executive, Pauline Tng, to lead its channel business in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, the company has confirmed.

“Splunk is thrilled to welcome Pauline Tng as Head of Partners, APAC," Splunk VP global partners, Cheryln Chin, told ARN in a statement.

"Pauline joins Splunk with a strong background in channel strategy, partner and distribution management, as well as channel operations.

"Under Pauline’s leadership, Splunk is well positioned to accelerate its partner-first strategy across the region," she said.

Tng claims a channel career stretching back to 2003 and joins the company from Juniper Networks where she held the position of senior director, distribution, commercial and inside-sales for the APAC partners organisation, a position she held for over four years.

Prior to joining Juniper, Tng spent five years at Motorola in various roles, the most recent of which was as director of sales, wireless business and solutions and partner alliances. She had also spent time as the company’s director of distribution in South East Asia and director of sales for the government and public safety division.

Before Motorola, Tng held senior leadership and channel positions at Lenovo and Hewlett Packard.

As part of the new role, ARN understands that Tng’s responsibilities will include formulating channel strategy from her base in Singapore and working with country managers to execute on the company’s plans.

Australia has been good to the US-based company which launched local operations in 2008 after appointing its first distributor, Unixpac. Since then the company has steadily expanded its local headcount as demand for its services has increased.

The company appointed its first Australian premium reseller partner, Remora Technologies, in June 2010.

Splunk took a different approach locally to other regions with a partner approach which has since been mirrored within the global organisation.

At the time, Splunk A/NZ area vice president, Simon Eid, told ARN that the company had been applying the “principles” of the new program in the region since he came on board in June 2015.

“There is no point having a partner community without transparency,” he said.

“There has been a massive uptake at a local level,” he said. “We have done things [in A/NZ] a little bit differently, we recently opened up our new offices in Melbourne and North Sydney and we have designed them to be collaboration offices.”

Along with a consistent channel push, the company also launched a number of technology partnerships including Verizon, MapR and EMC. These approaches have lead the company to winning a number of high-profile local customers including software giant, Atlassian.

“Splunk’s ability to work with data on-premises, in the Cloud or hybrid environments and to scale is enabling Atlassian to focus on securely delivering the next innovations in team collaboration. It is also exciting how this might play out as the teams work on integrating Splunk solutions with Atlassian offerings such as JIRA, Confluence and HipChat,” Eid said at the time.
