Data#3 simplifies disparate IT systems for SuperConcepts

New solution based on tech from VMware and Veeam

Data#3 has wrapped up a major project for SuperConcepts uniting a disparate mix of IT platforms into a single solution.

The Brisbane-based integrator's customer, SuperConcepts, is a Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF) services provider, formed via the merging five existing SMSF services companies, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

However, the merger of the disparate SMSF providers also necessitated the merger of the individual companies' IT systems and associated platforms.

These included hyper-visors and servers from multiple entities which needed to be rolled into a single enterprise-grade infrastructure solution that could support SuperConcepts’ growth targets.

Ultimately, SuperConcepts wanted a new enterprise-grade infrastructure platform, with identical stacks built in Sydney and Brisbane and replication between the two sites to ensure data security and business continuity.

This is where Data#3 came in, with the company pitching a number of solutions, including a demonstration of the Veeam Backup and Replication product.

“After an extensive PoC [proof of concept], we saw that Data#3 clearly possessed the technical skills to integrate Veeam with our NetApp storage,” SuperConcepts IT and security manager, Jim Robinson, said.

In the end, SuperConcepts chose VMware for its new hyper-visor and Veeam for backup.

According to Data#3, Veeam’s ability to backup and manage the complex mix of Microsoft and VMware hypervisors from one central console was critical to the success of the project.

The deployment itself also saw Data#3 provide licensing and professional services on the backup component of the solution.

While the IT outcomes of the project include faster, more reliable backups and increased storage capacity, in addition to each entity now operating off the same network, it has also improved speed and performance across the organisation, according to the company.

The completion of the project comes as Data#3 bags a $26.5 million contract from HealthShare NSW for the provision of Microsoft software across NSW Health, and  walks away with the NSX VMware Partner Innovation Award for the Asia Pacific region.
