ASX-listed distributor, Dicker Data, is building an ‘IoT community’ to help resellers capitalise on specific and new technologies in the market.
The community will be an exclusive opportunity for resellers interested in the internet of things (IoT) space to access resources and specific information, be exposed to new vendors and network with other partners.
Dicker Data general manager of services and IoT, Jason Hall, said it will be hosting regular ‘face-to-face’ meetings starting off with Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
“It’s an opportunity for resellers to get into the details on how a vendor’s specific IoT technologies work and how it can be applied,” Hall said.
“It’s also an opportunity to introduce emerging vendors in this space to resellers and to learn from others on what they are doing in the market.
"The technology is at that point where there’s going to be a shift from large IoT implementations towards smaller customers and the mid-market that are looking for some guidance here. Resellers will be able to have real conversations with customers.”
A recent survey conducted by analyst firm, Telsyte, revealed that 90 per cent of customers believed IoT will become a critical focal point to their organisation in the next five years.
That research also exposed that 23 per cent of organisations were either testing, developing or in the production phase of IoT.
In July, Dicker Data launched its enterprise data business unit focusing on digital transformation and IoT that aimed to create opportunities for resellers in the mid-market and enterprise arena.
