Sydney-headquartered IT services provider, Ethan Group, has won a computer equipment and accessories contract with the Federal Government's Department of Human Services (DHS).
The $5.79 million contract is for the provision of 2,500 Microsoft Surface Pro tablets 256GB Intel Core i5 with 8GB RAM.
The contract also includes associated services including 2,500 Computrace software licences.
“This is for Asset Replacement and is being undertaken as part of business as usual activity,” said a spokesperson for DHS, stopping short of specifying the products being replaced.
The contract is for a three-year period, expiring in August 2020.
Ethan Group was selected through the Digital Transformation Agency’s ICT Hardware and Associated Services Panel, which comprises of a total of 33 IT firms.
Some of the IT provider in the panel include Data#3, Datacom Systems, Dell, Dimension Data, HP and Lenovo.
The services provider was the current provider for the DHS, a spokesperson told ARN. Ethan was selected for providing the best value for money to the department.
The Ethan Group was founded in 2002 by Andrew Rayment and Tony Geagea, both currently hold executive director’s position with the company which has Paul Kawtal as chief executive officer.
In 2016, Ethan was awarded with the Australian Partner Award, Excellence in Surface Resale Award from Microsoft.
The services provider is also part of the Federal Government Cloud Services Panel.
The Department of Human Services is one of the Federal Government's biggest spenders on IT procurement, and is currently in the midst of a $1 billion welfare payment IT system overhaul with the help of IBM, Accenture, HPE and Capgemini.
In July, Accenture was granted just over $26 million by the Government for the provision of systems integration services as part of the landmark Centrelink payments system overhaul.
