Carbon Black taps Microsoft talent to head up global channel ops

Baez helped to accelerate growth of Microsoft's Cloud Solution Provider program

Carbon Black has named former Microsoft senior director of worldwide distribution and indirect channels, Victor Gureghian Baez, as its new vice president of worldwide channels.

In his prior role at Microsoft, Baez helped to accelerate growth of the vendor’s Cloud Solution Provider program.

In his new role, Baez will lead the endpoint security solution vendor’s channel revenue and growth, as well as the expansion of the company’s global reseller footprint and incident response program.

The move comes as Carbon Black continues to accelerate its Predictive Security Cloud rollout.

“I am thrilled to be joining a team that has proven its investment in both its partner ecosystem and, by extension, to its customers around the world as security becomes mission-critical in today’s business operations,” Baez said.

Baez steps into the role with more than two decades of experience in international channel enablement and growth for large global enterprises.

Before leading Microsoft’s worldwide distribution and indirect channel efforts, Baez  also held sales management roles for Belkin in Latin America and for Netgear in Latin America, Asia Pacific and China and Tech Data in the Americas and Europe.

Baez’s latest appointment comes as Carbon Black expands its worldwide channel footprint with more than 90 per cent of all sales driven through the channel.

In addition, the company has also hit a number of channel milestones, including bulking up its partner portfolio with 75 managed security services provider (MSSP) and IR partners worldwide.

"As more organisations worldwide migrate to the cloud, we are seeing channel partners transform to more service-based business models,” Carbon Black executive vice president and chief revenue officer,  Thomas Hansen, said.

“Victor’s deep global experience and success in enabling the channel to leverage the cloud will help strengthen our position as the leading global endpoint security provider,” he said.

Baez’s appointment comes just months after Carbon Black revealed it had appointed local channel veteran, Marco Corrent, as its new channel director in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Corrent has a long history in the local channel landscape, having held the position of South Asia regional partner manager for Tanium. Prior to that role, he was Hewlett-Packard’s South Pacific enterprise security products regional channel director.

Corrent has also done time with Cisco, Blue Coat Systems, Packeteer, Trend Micro and Nortel, all of which he held channel-facing roles with.
