Cloud security and data protection vendor, Barracuda Networks, has acquired Sonian, a public cloud archiving and business insights provider.
The acquisition will expand Barracuda’s channel reach through the addition of strategic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, while deepening the vendor's cloud archiving, and email security and management capabilities.
Sonian will bring 32,000 customers to Barracuda on top of partnerships with large managed service providers (MSPs) and software vendors.

"The Sonian platform will enable us to continue to drive differentiation and leadership as customers move to Office 365.

Sonian’s archiving and analytics capabilities enable customers to apply insights to their business to reduce risks and increase productivity.
Adding Sonian’s capabilities to Barracuda’s security platform can increase the security and data protection offering to customers in their Microsoft Office 365 and other cloud environments, according to Barracuda.

According to Barracuda, Sonian provides a “powerful platform” that enables rapid expansion and high reliability via Amazon Web Services and other public clouds.
Barracuda intends to leverage Sonian’s analytics and AI across the security and data protection portfolio to give partners and customers actionable insights into their data.
