DXC wins $120M contract with Queensland Health

Services include telephony system and support to several locations across the state

DXC Technologies has been awarded a $120 million, multi-year contract to provide telephony, paging, messaging and unified communications (TPM-UC) services to Queensland Health.

The department went to market in 2016 accepting submissions until 29 August 2016.

According to the Queensland Government tender’s page, two submissions were received with the contract being awarded to UXC, now DXC Technology, on 6 December 2017.

In its current form, the contract is set to extend to 5 December 2022.

Specifically, the contract will see DXC provide maintenance and support of all of Queensland Health private branch exchanges (PBXs), internet protocol (IP) telephony systems and paging and messaging system, and the provision of new end devices, also with maintenance and support.

A spokesperson for Queensland Health told ARN that the contract is to update existing technologies, but did not specify precisely which ones.

The DXC-supplied services will be provided to several Queensland Health facilities in the following areas: Cairns; Far North Queensland; Mount Isa; North West Region; the Central West; South West; Darling Downs; Townsville; Mackay Whitsunday Region; Rockhampton; Gladstone; Wide Bay Burnett and South East Queensland.

The rollout schedule will be determined with each one of the customers following consultation and consideration of technical and service-related requirements, the spokesperson told ARN.

Included in the scope of the contract is the provision for new end devices and support, hardware and software maintenance, incident support, incremental changes, and incident response.

According to tender documents, the services that “may” be within the scope of the project include PBX, IP telephony systems, paging and messaging systems, TPM-UC desk phones, DECT and Wi-Fi phones, pagers and messaging devices, software and switchboard controls, among others.

Services such as all directory management services for TPM-UC Services and LAN/WLAN maintenance could also be part of the contract.

Queensland Health expects the new contract to reduce costs and improve the quality of TPM-UC services, provide future state strategy and roadmap solutions for contemporary services that improve healthcare to Queenslanders, and also consolidate these TPM-UC services into a single arrangement.
