Cellnet recalls 3SIXT charger

Usually sold as a bundle with Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

Australian mobile distributor, Cellnet (ASX:CLT), is recalling a 3SIXT wall charger that it is usually sold as part of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus bundles.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) warned the white charger model being recalled is the 3S-0639 and it was sold in Australia from July 2016 to February 2018.

Product Safety Australia warned customers that the product’s internal fuse may fail “in an unsafe manner”, which could result in damage to connected devices, electrical shock or serious injury if the product remains connected to the power supply.

Consumers who purchased the product are instructed to stop using it immediately and contact the distributor or return it to the retailer where the product was first purchased. Consumers should receive a replacement product in return.

Cellnet is based in Queensland and was established 25 years ago. The company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 1999 and employs more than 100 staff in distribution and sales facilities across Australia and New Zealand.

The distributor closed the 2017 financial year with net profit after tax (NPAT) up 16.42 per cent, posting a total $2 million.

Cellnet posted total revenue of $82.7 million for the year ended 30 June 2017, representing a 10.2 per cent increase year-on-year.

A breakdown of the company’s revenue shows Australia revenue at $64.2 million, New Zealand $17.9 million and $554,000 from Asia.
