The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has fixed two separate technical issues that impacted the transfer of criminal checks to other agencies, and of banning notice data.
In a statement issued on 24 April, QPS said that one of the issues was related to the transfer of data from Queensland Police to a national system used by QPS for background checking purposes.
The issued affected the transfer of data for more than two months, between 9 December 2017 and 16 February 2018.
A total of 26 records had incorrect results issued, including 17 Blue Card checks, a prevention and monitoring system of people working with children and young people in Queensland.
The Queensland Police stated though that no risk was caused to the community as a result of the error.
"Checks were either adequately conducted through separate systems at the time or the information would not have met a threshold to affect community safety," QPS said in a statement.
The other issue relates to the transfer of court ordered and Bail Act banning notice data to the ID scanner network managed by the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation.
This particular system is used to ensure that someone issued with a banning notice or bail condition ban from a licensed venue or a Safe Night Precinct is detected when they attempt to enter a venue during their ban.
The transfer of 133 court ordered banning notices and 48 current bail conditions for Safe Night Precincts between 1 July 2017 and 13February 2018 were affected.
QPS said that all data has since been transferred
“The QPS will continue to review its processes and monitor these systems to ensure public safety,” Commissioner Ian Stewart said.
“The community can be assured that systems have been put in place to not only fix these issues but to regularly monitor data flows to ensure there is no ongoing risk to the public,” Commissioner Stewart said.
