Optus mobile customers started experiencing problems both receiving and making phone calls across the country just before 9am this morning (Friday 3 August).
Customers took to social media to express their frustrations reporting facing the issues from different regions in Australia - around 9am the telecommunications giant informed customers that it was investigating the issue.
"We’re currently investigating an issue with the network that is impacting some customers (fault reference 19098850)," an Optus statement read. "We apologise for the inconvenience this would be causing you.
"Our network team are working with the highest severity and hope to provide an update asap."

An Optus spokesperson told ARN that some customers may have experienced intermittent disruptions to voice services this morning as a result of a technical hardware failure.
According to the telco mobile data services were not affected.
Optus told ARN that services were restored at 9:20am, however an official post on Twitter was only published around 10am.
