DXC Technology has appointed former Oracle vice president for cloud applications, Doug Hughes as its new head of cloud transformation within its Red Rock practice.

Hughes spent 14 years in a variety roles with Oracle before joining DXC in the newly created position.

DXC Red Rock practice director, Philip Milne, said having Hughes lead cloud transformation, opens opportunities for new and existing customers through the wealth of expertise and experience he brings.

"Earlier this year M-Power Solutions was acquired by DXC Technology and integrated in the DXC Red Rock practice. Appointing Doug as the head of cloud transformation is the next step,” Milne said.

At the time the acquisition was announced, DXC Technology A/NZ managing director, Seelan Nayagam, said M-Power with DXC’s Red Rock practice, solidified the provider's pole position as a leading Oracle cloud solution specialist within the market.

The acquisition was also a key part of Red Rock's cloud-first strategy, and it will strengthen its current enterprise performance management (EPM) and business intelligence (BI) practice.

"We needed to either invest more ourselves or get leverage," M-Power Solutions director, Mark Simpson, said at the time.

"DXC offered us a platform for our growth in A/NZ, around the world and into larger Tier 1 customers; and we want to be a part of that success.”

M-Power was founded in 2003, and claims over 50 employees and 60 clients across Australia and New Zealand. In its own words, the company was created with the "aim to help clients make better, more profitable, decisions by improving access to their biggest asset, information".

DXC Technology’s business in Australia pulled in revenues of just over US$1.69 billion (A$2.26 billion) for the company’s financial year ending March 2018, topping off a lengthy period of acquisition and consolidation for the multinational IT services giant.
