Ingram Micro Australia has created two new roles as a result of a restructure that will see the distributor focus on its Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), IBM and Lenovo businesses.

Darryl Tucker, who was recently the director of consultancy firm Tux Group, has been appointed as the HPE business manager for the distributor.

“We are thrilled to have Darryl on board to manage our HPE business unit,” said John Brown, senior general manager of vendor management at Ingram Micro. “Darryl brings a wealth of industry experience having held various leadership roles in distribution.”

Tucker has more than 20 years of experience in the industry having worked for Cellnet Group for just over 10 years and Avnet for a further 10 years before joining Tux Group.

To run the IBM and Lenovo businesses, Ingram appointed Caleb Leung who had worked for the distributor as a senior product manager from 2000 to 2005.

“Caleb has held various product management and leadership roles and has considerable experience in working with Lenovo," Brown said.

Leung has also worked for AMD as a country manager and later as the senior manager for the APAC channel. In 2012 he joined Seagate where he worked with the channel across Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

“These new appointments bring a great deal of value to customers and suppliers and enable us to further drive the value-added offerings Ingram Micro offer to the Australian market - for example, education and training, lifecycle services, commercial fulfillment, and innovative financial solutions like ITaaS (Ingram technology-as-a-service)," Brown added.

The appointments are aligned with the distributor's strategy to build dedicated business units (BU) within advanced solutions.

Furthermore, Ingram will also resource the BUs with specialised business managers, product managers, account managers, business development managers and solutions architects who understand the vendor’s strategies and their specific market dynamics.

“These new recruits reinforce our commitment to the Australian IT channel,” Ingram chief country executive Felix Wong said. “At the end of the day, a company’s ability to drive value to its customers lies with its people."
