Managed services provider Cirrus Networks has won a $3 million deal to deploy an operational technology (OT) cyber resilience program for Woodside Petroleum.
The Perth-headquartered company has been contracted to provide the convergence of the oil and gas firm’s IT and OT business units with a focus on security.
The contract was awarded following a competitive tender and will cover an 18-month period.
According to the publicly-listed company, it won the deal due to its understanding of Woodside’s offshore platforms, floating vessels and onshore gas plants.
Woodside, also based in Perth, describes itself as Australia’s largest independent oil and gas company and has operations across Asia, Africa, Canada, as well as on home turf. It generated $1.16 million in revenue in the last quarter.
Cirrus MD Matt Sullivan said the deal highlighted the company’s growing focus on the OT/cyber security market.
“With quality staff, innovative solutions and strong technology partnerships, we are confident our security and OT division will continue to lead the market and provide robust technology platforms to safeguard our clients ever changing and evolving environments across the country in diverse sectors from resources and oil and gas to finance and health care,” he added.
Founded in 2003, Cirrus has experienced a period of significant expansion over the past three years.
In 2015, the MSP acquired the Perth-based IT solutions provider L7 Solutions. Since then, the company set its sights Eastwards through the acquisition of Melbourne-based IT provider NGage for $2.5 million in 2017.
That same year, Cirrus also bought Canberra IT services company Correct Communications for around $5 million.
Last month, the company opened a new office in Canberra, which currently houses 30 people after outgrowing its previous ACT base.
