Adelaide-based systems integrator Vintek has acquired Canberra-based Cloud Central for an undisclosed sum.
Established in 2009, Cloud Central is a private Australian cloud services provider with customers across private and public sectors, operating from offices in Canberra and Melbourne.
"Cloud Central was a natural fit to our business and there are definite synergies between the two companies," Vintek CEO and founder Paul Vinton told ARN.
Cloud Central currently uses TransACT, NextDC C1 and M1 and Equinix SY3 for data centres.
According to Vinton, both businesses also work with Vocus making the acquisition a natural fit for Vintek.
"Their government and corporate business is well aligned with ours and we see it as a big win for clients, with a much deeper talent and resource pool and a much broader set of offerings available," he added. "We are excited about the future of the two businesses together."
Vinton also explained to ARN that the Cloud Central business will align with Intervolve, a company acquired in 2016, which has data centre services such as Rackspace.
"Cloud Central is much more aligned with the AWS [Amazon Web Services] and Azure model with self-service portal that adds an extra layer of service into our existing data centre services," Vinton added.
Terms of the deal will see Vintek purchase Cloud Central from Security Shift Group, while the deal will also see the business take on all of Cloud Central's clients.
According to Vinton, Cloud Central's cloud offering is "truly scalable" and offers a complete end-to-end self-managed hybrid cloud model.
The acquisition is also part of Vintek's goal be a $100 million business and owning the client network from end-to-end.
In December 2017, the systems integrator acquired Sydney-based managed services provider Regal IT. At the time, the plan was to keep Regal IT's 22 staff in Sydney to grow the presence of Vintek in the area.
With the acquisition, Vintek added enterprise remote access services to its data centre, cloud and managed services pool. Furthermore, the Regal IT technical team helps provide extra depth and breadth to the Vintek and Intervolve technical teams.
As explained by Vinton, the Regal IT team also forms an integral part of the Cloud Central acquisition, as they are helping with the transition and handover in Melbourne.
"It's a reasonable acquisition, we are looking to use some of the technology that they got, take and deploy nationally," Vinton said.
On the Regal IT side, Vinton said the business is now fully transitioned and reported its biggest month in September 2018, claiming that there has been "never been a bigger pipeline in Regal IT".
Meanwhile in June 2017, Vintek revealed that it was looking to acquire Hostworks early in the year, but lost the bid to Inabox “by just over $1 million”, according to Vinton at the time.
In September 2018, Vintek was among the 36 suppliers announced for the first category of the Digital Transformation Agency new hardware marketplace procurement panel, enterprise storage.
