Dimension Data has revealed a new managed services platform, built to offer real-time insights and reports to customers.

The platform will effectively manage over 9,000 IP networks with support for more than 13 million users globally, in a move designed to free up resources for IT and operations teams.

"Our global managed services and delivery platform has re-engineered the end-to-end client journey, radically simplifying IT operations management and eliminating the pressure of day-to-day operations, while also allowing clients to take advantage of Dimension Data’s relationship with other NTT companies and best-of-breed solution providers,” said Bill Padfield, group COO of transformation and services, Dimension Data.

Padfield said the new service will offer near real-time performance visibility and control through the provider’s “manage centre” portal, which provides a complete view of an IT estate’s performance.

In addition to this, the service will cater to multi-vendor and multi-technology infrastructures with "top-down management and visibility" with a dedicated client success manager to provider tailored support.

“We chose Dimension Data because our main core business is not IT, it is scientific data production,” said Christian Saldias, IT manager at ALMA, a Dimension Data managed services customer.

“We are a small IT team and we need support from a company that has all the expertise that we do not have. Dimension Data provides us with all the expertise we do not have – and we don’t need to have."

IT infrastructure has become increasingly complex consisting of public, private, and hybrid clouds, with multi-vendor set-ups to boot.

As such, a managed service offering that takes into account this reality and provides near real-time monitoring and control of such environments, stands to free up an already overstretched IT team who lack resources and impact the day-to-day IT support operations.

Furthermore, the move also helps alleviate security concerns, as businesses fear they do not possess the adequate in-house skills or resources to defend against incoming threats.
