Bitdefender has increased its investment in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) following the acquisition of SMS eTech in September 2018, an Australian company focused on the vendor's solutions.

As a result, the cyber security vendor has appointed Vaughn Madeley as director of A/NZ.

Madeley brings 18 years of experience in the industry having worked for companies including Nokia, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Fortinet and Ruckus Wireless.

Bitdefender has also opened its Partner Advantage Network program to resellers on both sides of the Tasman, with plans in place to recruit and offer support to a total of 500 local partners.

Channel partners in A/NZ will now have access to Bitdefender's entire portfolio through an automated platform, including online courses as part of an initiative to help partners engage in technical training models and gain certifications to qualify for additional margins on their revenues.

"Our platform is a one-stop shop for anything a reseller or business partner would want in terms of education, engaging, ordering and invoicing," said Madeley. "Our partners are foundational to our success and we look forward to combining our brand name and innovations with their relationships and go-to-market opportunities."

Bitdefender picked Melbourne, where SMS eTech had its headquarters, for its new location, which will be ready in early April.

The security vendor currently has 12 people in Australia, the new office will count on eight of those and the remainder four is based in Sydney.

Next up for Bitdefender Australia is a grand opening. During the 2nd week of April 2019, the company will begin conducting business from its new offices in downtown Melbourne at 350 Collins Street.
