BlackBerry's endpoint security business unit, Cylance, has achieved Australian Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) accreditation.
The vendor claims it is the first endpoint security provider to achieve IRAP certification, opening up doors to customers within the public sector.
“Federal agencies can now take advantage of AI-driven, prevention-first security solutions for the first time," BlackBerry Cylance country manager Jason Duerden said. "With access to BlackBerry Cylance solutions, government and commercial entities can drive a prevention-first strategic approach to cyber, without the friction and complexity that occurs with many other security controls today."

Solutions certified under the IRAP program meet the Australian government security requirements, as defined by the attorney general’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
All federal government entities applying the ISM are restricted to using IRAP-compliant applications running on cloud services named on the Certified Cloud Services list.
Verizon Enterprise Solutions A/NZ head of public sector Michael Faulkner said BlackBerry Cylance’s commitment and investment in supporting federal agencies was critical to its strategy in using artificial intelligence for cyber security in government.
“Verizon is committed to solving the greatest community, economic and cyber security challenges using the latest innovations in technology. As part of that mission, we’ve identified artificial intelligence and predictive threat detection and prevention as a priority for our customers,” Faulkner said.
In March, Verizon added BlackBerry Cylance’s AI-based antivirus security solutions to its managed security services portfolio that includes CylanceProtect and CylanceOptics.
Additionally BlackBerry Cylance’s endpoint security intelligence will also power the Verizon Risk Report security assessment framework.
In January, Amazon Web Services (AWS) finally achieved Protected certification for cloud services by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), joining Microsoft, Dimension Data, Macquarie Government, Sliced Tech and Vault Systems.
