Sydney-based SecureServ has re-established itself as a service provider shifting away from its distribution focus aiming at providing security consulting, compliance and risk awareness.

Director of operations Vic Whiteley said SercureServ, which has been around since 2005, decided two years ago it needed to reinvent itself and made the move to take advantage of the changing profile of the security market and focus on the compliance area.

“It got to a point where, with the products we had, they stopped being distribution products and then the cloud arrived in a big way and nothing we had really addressed that,” he said.

“We’ve always been security focused and never veered from that. We still had a good reputation in the market," Whiteley said.

“I have been at every level of the channel from vendor, distributor to reseller, you get to know what each party wants. I always had a feeling of how I wanted a reseller to operate.”

As part of its shift towards the service provider model, the company recently sided with behaviour-driven security awareness platform, Cyber Risk Aware.

The platform enables organisations to carry out phishing simulations, cyber knowledge assessments as well as meet their legal and regulatory compliance requirements.

Whiteley said the product will enhance its risk management and compliance consulting strategy, citing that 95 per cent of security incidents were caused by a lack of staff awareness.

Cyber Risk Aware founder and CEO Stephen Burke said it was looking forward to working with SecureServ in developing the critical security awareness sector in Australia.

“SecureServ’s long experience in the Australian security market, along with their compliance and risk management focus, offer us a strong joint opportunity,” Burke said.

SercureServ also has a relationship with Check Point, and deals with distributors such as Orca Tech, Synnex, Tech Data and Arrow ECS.
