Melbourne-based Multimedia Technology (MMT) has been appointed as the master distributor in Australia for Chinese-based VoIP endpoint manufacturer, Htek.
MMT business unit leader Michael Muscat said Htek adds a vital component to its range of VoIP networking products, which can also be re-branded.
Other networking vendors MMT has in its portfolio include D-Link, Cisco and Netcomm, with Htek filling the gap for a price competitive model featuring inbuilt wireless and Bluetooth capability.
“We have a great range of vendors and have the advantage of being able to determine our future as a result of being Australian owned and managed,” Muscat said.
MMT spotted an opportunity in the market for resellers as small businesses will be opting for IP phones, as the ISDN network continues to shut down.
The distributor has been supplying test units to a range of installers and resellers, with positive feedback.
MMT purchasing manager Mark Eichler further added it has long term growth plans for Htek in the market.
“We have secured locally based technical support to ensure the best service levels possible on Htek products,” Eichler said. “The Htek IP phones have a clear market position. Outstanding compatibility, value and market leading features.”
Htek global sales director Nico Tao said it had been searching for an established distributor with the right pedigree to take its products to market.
“With Multimedia Technology we have found a company that has grown consistently over its 23 year history and established long term relationships with its local and international suppliers. We believe we have cemented a relationship that will survive the test of time,” Tao said.
This is the second major vendor attracted to Multimedia Technology in the last six months, and earlier in the year, inked a deal with Promethean.
