Hitachi Vantara has appointed Adrian Johnson to the roles of vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

He will be responsible for managing the business and operations in the region, focusing on the partner ecosystem, business strategy and business growth.

Johnson said recent changes in cloud technology – such as true multi-cloud strategies and hyper-converged infrastructures and data analytics – have made way for “exciting” progress in the industry.

“I am excited to work with the A/NZ team to offer Hitachi Vantara expertise and our growing portfolio of technology and services to build the capabilities of our partners and customers in support of this progress.”

Previously, Johnson was working at Liferay as general manager for A/NZ for over three years.

Johnson also worked at Code 42 Software, Dell, Fuji Xerox, Computer Associates and Sun Microsystems.

Daniel Chong, senior vice president and general manager of Hitachi Vantara APAC, said Johnson’s appointment coincides with Hitachi Vantara’s growth in the A/NZ region.

“Adrian will drive local co-creation opportunities and innovative data-driven strategies that aim to deliver business value and accelerate digital transformation for our customers and partners.”

Johnson replaces Hitachi Vantara former vice president for A/NZ Nathan McGregor who has been appointed the VP for data analytics and IoT for Asia Pacific with the company in April 2019. After McGregor's appointment and before Johnson's appointment, Tony Wigham, sales director for A/NZ was the acting managing director.

This appointment follows the promotion of Marc Fiala to senior partner business manager and channel leader for A/NZ back in April.
