Data#3 provides Microsoft support for CSIRO

New $7 million contract runs until 2022

Data#3 has been awarded a $7.1 million contract for the support and maintenance of Microsoft licenses for Australia’s national science agency CSIRO.

Specifically, the deal covers Non-Common Cloud Commitment (CCC) Microsoft licenses, or standard enterprise software for data management and resource planning, which are used in a wide variety of applications and platforms by CSIRO.

The three-year contract runs from July 2019 until June 2022.

Although the tender was awarded through the whole of Australian Government Software Licensing and Services Panel, which counts on 148 providers, agencies can only purchase non-CCC Microsoft products through Data#3.

In July, the Federal Government had renewed its whole of government volume sourcing arrangement (VSA) with Microsoft. This fourth iteration runs until June 2022.

The publicly-listed IT solutions provider has seen significant growth in its public cloud-based services, which helped the company close financial 2019 with $1.4 billion in revenue.

Net profit after tax (NPAT) increased by 28.7 per cent, reaching $18.1 million in total. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were $28.3 million, or a 25.8 per cent.

Data#3 managing director and CEO Laurence Baynham told ARN at the time that the business is pleased that public cloud services continue to grow at a rapid rate and "a lot faster than the overall market."
