The strategy behind TechFlow's growth

Counts on Secure Agility and Field Solutions as customers

Three years ago, Shah Hardik co-founded TechFlow Services to help businesses struggling with their data centres.

Hardik had previously worked for NTT, AC3, Harbour MSP among others. In July 2016 he established the business to help SMB and enterprise customers succeed in their data centre consolidation, migration and multi-cloud strategy.

To Hardik, while suppliers want to push cloud and managed services, there are projects that require a simple colocation that are left out, resulting in "sub-standard outcomes" for customers.

“Off course the business has come a long way since when we started," he said. "We’ve expanded our strategic partnership with major vendors and suppliers and launched services to complement the core colocation business.

“TechFlow currently is offering three key services data centre services, infrastructure procurement and network connectivity with colocation still being our prime focus.

“We are in the process of expanding in other regions, including the US and NZ, to support some of our global customers. However, we are taking our time with this as we want to get it right,” he explained.

“TechFlow’s service offering has matured tremendously over the years and we are proud that our focus has not shifted at all during this time. I’ve seen others make that mistake and so pay extra attention to ensure we do not repeat the mistakes that others have made.”

The company has grown significantly in the past three years, going from $50,000 revenue in its first year to $1.4 million in its third.

Among its clients are government agencies and ASX-listed companies, including telecommunications carrier and IT provider Field Solutions and Secure Agility.

Based in Pyrmont, Sydney, the company's office is a street away from its primary data centre provider Global Switch. It employs six full-time personnel and six contractors.

Although cloud-agnostic, TechFlow is an AWS direct connect partner, of which the company claims there is "hardly any dedicated data centre services organisations who have achieved this".

"We’ve helped customers connect into multiple cloud environments along with our DC set-up to help them enjoy the truly hybrid cloud scenarios," Hardik said.

Techflow partners with APC, Cisco, Dell, Fortinet, HP and Juniper among others on the hardware front. On top of Global Switch, the company also works with Equinix and NextDC for secondary DR purposes. The company also counts on Telstra and Vocus as telecommunications partners.

The company has its own IT procurement portal which was launched to reduce time to procure IT hardware and licensing from weeks to hours.
