Global software vendor SAP has revealed updates to its cloud services offering, bringing new products into the fold by the end of the year.
Announced at its SAP TechEd conference in Barcelona, Spain, the company revealed more details about its SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and SAP HANA Cloud products which, together with SAP Analytics Cloud, comprise the SAP HANA Cloud Services stack.
In addition to updates to its SAP Analytics Cloud offering, the product stack combines the data and analytic processes from the three products into one solution to store, process, check and consume large amounts of data.
“Our business technology platform brings SAP HANA and analytics closer together with SAP Cloud Platform so users can make smarter, faster and more-confident business decisions,” said Juergen Mueller, SAP chief technology officer and SAP SE executive board member.
“SAP ensures high levels of openness and flexibility including out-of-the-box integration, modularity and ease of extension in cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment models. With this open and flexible approach, SAP is committed to helping our customers achieve superior business outcomes.”
SAP Data Warehouse Cloud provides users with a cloud-based data warehouse-as-a-service, giving businesses access to data analytics and the ability to import data from multiple sources. The solution can be deployed as an extension to existing on-premise SAP BW/4HANA solution or SAP HANA software.
Currently over 2,000 businesses are a part of the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud beta program, with general availability announced for Q4 of 2019. Interested users are also able to preregister for a free trial.
Meanwhile, SAP HANA Cloud places SAP HANA in the cloud, allowing for users to manage data storage across all their data sources with a query engine in what the company refers to as a “simplified, unified data access layer”. This then allows for the streamlining of data processing and the consolidation of data integration into intelligent application, according to the company.
Much like SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP HANA Cloud will be able to be deployed as either a stand-alone product or an extension to existing on-premise environments with a Q4 2019 release earmarked.
Additionally, the latest release of SAP Analytics Cloud contains updated tools to assist in enterprise planning, which includes a wizard that automatically creates calendar tasks for planning process, an updated builder tool that can create different versions of rolling forecasts and data actions that allow for the coverage of identical calculations across plans with one single complex calculation.
SAP Analytics Cloud, also set to be released in Q4 2019, will be offered as a free service under the SAP Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement and will be embedded in SAP SuccessFactors solutions and SAP S/4HANA.
SAP also announced a beta program for the version 4.3 release of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence suite for Q4 of 2019. The new version includes tighter integration between BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud, an updated user experience and support for the latest industry standards.
