Ernst & Young acquires Sydney cyber security specialist Aleron

Gives EY access to platform eDNA, which will be scaled globally

Comments

Ernst & Young (EY) Australia has acquired Sydney-based cyber security company Aleron for an undisclosed sum.

The move will give the global systems integrator access to Aleron’s platform eDNA, which it claims it will start selling globally post-acquisition.

Aleron specialises in cybersecurity strategy, architecture design and implementation across verticals including financial services, retail and government.

Aleron founders Mark Wroniak and Alex Morkos will join EY as partners, bringing with them 36 staff and contractors across Australia, EY said.

“The acquisition of Aleron will build on our growing capability to deliver end-to-end cyber resilience for clients as they embrace new and disruptive technologies such as cloud, robotics and internet of things,” EY Oceania cyber security Leader Anthony Robinson said.

“It’s critical that cybersecurity is at the core of business strategy rather than just being seen as an off-the-shelf technology solution. Having worked extensively with some of Australia’s largest organisations, Aleron will bring a unique understanding of business acumen coupled with a technological capability to create that important link to the C-suite and board,” Robinson added.

The move follows the recent launch of EY’s cyber security centre in Melbourne, which forms part of the company’s global network and is the biggest in Asia Pacific.

Wroniak meanwhile added he was excited to see the global roll-out of Aleron’s eDNA tool.
