Adacel secures Red Hat favouritism

Adacel Technologies has released ecommerce security products for Red Hat Linux, including certificate authority software CertEntity, and an X.500 database, View500.

Silvio Salom, Adacel's managing director, and Mark White, Red Hat's vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific operations, said that the availability of "commercial strength" ecommerce security products would further assist the rapid uptake of Red Hat Linux.

The companies are also in discussions about a range of business initiatives. Salom said that a business relationship would provide a significant opportunity to grow with the Red Hat Linux community in the international marketplace. "We have seen the rapid growth of Red Hat Linux and are responding to the market demand."

Adacel was showcasing its new security products on Silicon Graphics' (SGI) recently launched 1200L server at the Linux Open Source Expo in Sydney.

Paul Rushton, SGI Australia's director of marketing, said the company was examining ways for Adacel and SGI to pursue opportunities together. "We believe that there is a significant market for X.500 directories and digital certificate solutions which run on our high-performance scalable servers," said Rushton.

Adacel also recently announced half-yearly profits of $1.092 million after-tax, an increase of 63 per cent from the corresponding period a year ago. Revenue rose to $19.893 million, from $7.508 million a year ago.
