firstservis partner gathering AppLogic cloud solution for Oz

Lucida Group has become the first firstservis reseller to bring 3Tera's cloud computing managed services to the Australian market

Lucida Group has become the first firstservis reseller to bring 3Tera's cloud computing services to the Australian market.

firstservis is the sole distributor for 3Tera products in the country and teamed with Lucida Group four months ago.

Through a newly formed division, LC9, the reseller utilises 3Tera’s AppLogic cloud computing platform on its own grid infrastructure to provide a blend of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). Clients can tailor the services they want to take up, including the amount of processors, RAM and bandwidth. Access to the system can be done remotely through the Internet.

Since AppLogic is a platform agnostic software, it can run applications from any vendor. Applications can also be transferred from one grid AppLogic infrastructure to another.

“Many companies overspend on IT hardware and what we can do is cut cost down,” Lucida Group managing director, Craig Taylor, said. “Using the LC9 business model, organisations don’t have to spend so much money on initial IT procurement, refreshment of hardware or build their own datacentres.”

Users can opt for a pay-as-you-go model. Scalability is also a key feature, with Lucida Group claiming that businesses can expand from one user to 100 users on demand.

firstservis also claimed there is potential for reseller partners to increase their revenue streams through the cloud computing managed services.

“For system integrators, there is an opportunity to take the AppLogic solution to enterprise clients and apply it to their internal infrastructure,” firstservis manager director, Derek Merdith, said. “Alternatively, in the case of LC9, resellers can create their own cloud offering and give it back to their client base to make those resources available in IaaS.”

The distributor is also keen to seek out a number of resellers across all major capital cities for its cloud service products. The company is currently offering a free one month trial of the AppLogic platform to any interested resellers.

The cloud momentum is gaining pace with EMC warning partners that they must make a decision on cloud computing within 36 months to stay relevant to customers.
