HP focuses on software and services with new hires

Technology and services giant, HP, has named its first general managers for its software and technology services divisions in the South Pacific region (A/NZ).

Richard Outten has been appointed general manager of software as an indication of its dedication towards its growing software portfolio, the company said.

Nathan Wappet is general manager for technology services.

The appointments follow software country manager, Robert Yue, leaving HP to pursue other opportunities and former director of technology services, Howard Bowland, switching to a regional role (Asia-Pacific and Japan) within HP, the company said.

HP recently announced a global strategy, which the new general managers are working towards.

"The focus now is to consolidate the work of our previous leaders, grow that to drive new partnerships and deliver new strategies. The software business is rapidly growing and embracing new technologies is a challenge we welcome," Outten said.

He has been with HP since 2007, following the acquisition of Mercury Interactive. His previous work experience includes senior roles at IBM, PeopleSoft and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Wappet served as vice-president of Group Regional Service Units APAC, Alcatel-Lucent before joining HP.
