Telstra, Accenture, and SAP strengthen Cloud bond

Telstra, SAP, and Accenture are banking on their reputations to woo enterprise and Government customers with their new hosted Cloud solutions.

All three companies have worked together previously, with SAP certifying Telstra’s Cloud infrastructure to run its software in September last year. Accenture has been working with SAP applications for some time.

Under the expanded partnership, Telstra will provide SAP application licensing, network, compute, and storage infrastructure. Accenture will manage system integration, migration, SAP application maintenance, and help desk services.

Applications will be hosted in Telstra’s local datacentres.

“We feel by moving forward together as three reputable organisations, we are really putting forward extra credibility in this space which is going to be important to our customers,” SAP head of business solutions and Cloud, Jeremy Goddard, told ARN.

With their powers combined, the trio wants to provide organisations with a cost-effective, secure, and reliable way to move their SAP applications into a hybrid or public Cloud. Organisations can also opt to build a new SAP system into a fully managed private Cloud. The objective is to provide a flexible Cloud offering.

The trio will work together to develop mobility and analytics capabilities into the Cloud solution set in the near future. These will include managed mobility services offered by Telstra and real-time analytics across customer information.

There is yet to be an announcement on customers taking advantage of the new solution set but the group is optimistic about where the future of this Cloud offering.

“We have a great deal of confidence that we are on the right messaging certainly in relation to the strengths of the three companies and we have had a great response in terms of what customers see as advantages or what they want to take advantage of with our new announcement,” Telstra enterprise and government general manager, Mark Pratley, said.
