LG's Lifeband Touch is a flexible fitness tracker with a touch-sensitive display

LG debuted a new flexible connected device that wraps around the wrist and boasts a touch OLED panel, but it's not a smartwatch.

The Lifeband Touch is a snazzy piece of fit tech that can track, monitor, and transmit your physical activity to your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth. But unlike minimalist activity trackers such as Fitbit or Jawbone UP24, the Lifeband comes with a touch-sensitive OLED display that interacts directly with your smartphone.

In addition to displaying fitness data, the Lifeband's screen can relay notifications such as texts and incoming calls directly from users' smartphones. The UI even allows users to control their music right from their wrist.

LG claims the Lifeband incorporates "a unique motion-sensing" algorithm that automatically turns on the display when the wearer rotates his or her wrist. We're beginning to see more and more of our devices becoming "aware" of their surroundings.

LG also introduced the plainly-named Heart Rate Earphones. The new earpieces will not only do all the things that regular earphones do, but will also monitor and track blood flow--directly from your earholes. That data can be used to capture and relay real-time biometric data such as heart rate and maximal oxygen consumption.

The Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Earphones will be available in the US in the first half of 2014. No pricing information has yet been made available.
