SoftLayer offers IBM Cloud services

Clients gain access to virtualised server recovery and other services

IBM has made existing Cloud services available SoftLayer clients. IBM says the new services will make backup and recovery faster and more secure.

SoftLayer is a Cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) company. It was acquired by IBM in July 2013.

The services include IBM’s business continuity and resilience services (BCRS) and resiliency consulting services. The computer giant has also announced it will be opening two Cloud-based resiliency centres in North Carolina and Mumbai.

IBM said the services will speed up data recovery time by providing assistance to clients using the Cloud virtualised server recovery (VSR) managed service. Other services made available to SoftLayer users include resiliency consulting for Cloud, Cloud managed backup, Cloud data virtualisation, Cloud application resiliency and Cloud virtualised server recovery.

SoftLayer chief executive officer, Lance Crosby, said thousands of customers rely on the company’s Cloud service.

“By bringing these proven services to SoftLayer, our customers match the full benefits of the cloud with the assurances that no threat, whether it’s a hacker or a potential outage, will impact business performance, customer loyalty, revenues and the reputation of their brand.”
