MAXON partners with Side Effects Software

Begins with development of Cinema 4D plug-in for Houdini engine

MAXON will partner with Side Effects Software to develop a plug-in that will allow users of Cinema 4D to access the Houdini engine.

Cinema 4D is a MAXON developed 3D motion graphics toolkit. The Houdini engine was developed by Side Effects Software, it was introduced to allow Houdini’s procedural technology to work inside other digital content creation applications.

The company said the new bridge between the two applications offers artists using CINEMA 4D direct access to Houdini digital assets with an integrated procedural workflow.

MAXON Computer co-founder and chief executive officer, Harald Egel, said creation of a bridge between the two programmes highlights the company’s commitment to provide customers with access to other digital content creation tools.

“Integrating Houdini’s procedural workflow and VFX tools inside Cinema 4D will offer our users a streamlined experience to collaborate with Houdini artists and create inspiring content.”

The Cinema 4D plug-in for the Houdini Engine is slated for release before the end of 2014.
