Strong adoption puts Cloud in focus for businesses: Mimecast

Software-as-a-Service company eyes further opportunities in Australia one year after entering the market

Australian businesses are focused on the move to the Cloud, , according to Mimecast country manager, Nick Lennon, who has been impressed with the high adoption of Microsoft Office 365 locally and the opportunity it presents.

“There has been a strong understanding and interest in services such as messaging being hosted in the Cloud,” he said.

Mimecast specialises in providing unified email management via Software-as-a-Service, and it has been one year since the company officially opened its doors in Australia.

As it celebrates its first anniversary, Mimecast is helping Australian businesses accelerate the move to a fully hosted Cloud service.

“That is an exciting thing we’ve seen across all segments of the market, from SMB to enterprise, and across most verticals,” Lennon said.

Thinking locally

Mimecast entered the Australian market with sales, marketing and support aimed directly at locally organisations.

Lennon said it is to ensure customers view Mimecast as a local business that can solve their problems.

“We’ve gone through the process of getting good people into the business, and we have a local support desk to support Australian customers in the same time zone,” he said.

In addition to growing its in-house sales and marketing, Lennon said Mimecast is also 100 per cent committed to the channel.

“We invest heavily in the channel to build understanding and support of our technology, and that’s a global initiative for the company,” he said.
