Robert Kaye retires as Macquarie Telecom chairman

Macquarie Telecom chairman and non-executive director, Robert Kaye, has retired to pursue personal interests.

Kaye’s retirement comes after a 10-year stint as chairman. He was appointed to the role of non-executive director at the business telecommunications provider in June 2001.

The firm said during his time as chairman and non-executive director, Kaye oversaw the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) profitability grow significantly.

In 2001, when Kaye assumed the role, EBITDA profitability was at a loss of $17.7 million. By the 2013 financial year this had grown to a profit of $35.1 million.

Current non-executive director, Peter James, will succeed Kaye as chairman.

James is a 30-year veteran of the technology, telecommunication and media industries and joined the Macquarie board in April 2012.

Bart Vogel has also been appointed as non-executive director. He has 33 years experience in the field that include 20 years in management consulting and 13 years as a business leader in the technology industry.
