Victorian Government funds more local game developers

Three companies awarded funding totaling $75 000

The Victorian Government has been touting its record of supporting local small games studios with the announcement that three local companies have been awarded funding totaling $75 000.

The three firms that received funding are Baffles the Fox, Crackerjack Games and Jacob Strasser.

Minister for innovation, Louise Asher, said the three companies received funding through Film Victoria’s Screen Marketing - Game Release program to assist with the release of projects into the global marketplace.

“This support gives small Victorian games companies the opportunity to market their own intellectual property and capture long-term benefits for their business and the wider games industry in Victoria,”

The minister said the government was also supporting skills development in the industry through Film Victoria’s games professional placements program and games production through Assigned Production Investment - Games.

Since December 2010, the Coalition Government has supported over 60 games projects and committed more than $2.9 million in funding.

Victoria is home to over 40 per cent of the Australian game development industry. Companies ranging from International heavyweights like Electronic Arts to Australian firms such as Big Ant and smaller developers make the state a base of operations.
