Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus pricing: Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin

Sales for Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have gone live with the big carriers finally announcing pricing. Incentives in the form of credits and extras are being offered to lure customers. $200 cancellation credit - Optus and Telstra

People looking to exit their contracts early and sign up for an iPhone 6 should consider the latest offers from Optus and Telstra. The carriers will credit your account with $200 credit if you cancel your existing contract and join them. Another $250 credit is available if you trade in your smartphone, with how much credit depending on the model of the smartphone and the kind of condition it is in.

A difference separates the trade-in credit between Optus and Telstra. Whereas Optus will credit the value of your smartphone to your account, Telstra will transfer up to $250 “directly into [your] bank account or PayPal account”.

Optus plan pricing

Optus has increased the data allowance of its top My Plan Plus options. The $80 and $100 plans will come with 5GB and 8GB respectively — up from 3GB and 5GB — if you sign up before 2 November.

Telstra plan pricing

Bonuses from Telstra allow customers to choose either more credit or data on its mobile accelerate plans. Plans sized medium and above can have either 1GB of extra monthly data or an additional $1000 for voice call and mms each month. Telstra’s small plan offers the same options, only at the value of 500MB of data or $500 in voice and MMS credit.

Vodafone plan pricing

Vodafone is sweetening the deal with additional bonuses, but the carrier won't be competing in Telstra and Vodafone's credit war. The carrier issued a statement to Good Gear Guide explaining why it’s not matching Optus and Telstra’s offer.

Customers choose Vodafone Red plans because we consistently offer outstanding value-driven plans...Customers will save simply by staying with Vodafone.

Vodafone Red customers can already upgrade, without penalty, in the final three months of their contract. Vodafone Classic customers in the last three months of their contract are also free to switch to a Vodafone Red plan.

Perks are available to customers who sign up to Vodafone's top-tier plans. Sign up to Vodafone's $80 and $100 Red plans and will benefit from an additional 1GB and 2GB respectively, which will push the total to 5GB and 8GB.

Virgin plan pricing

Virgin is offering extra data on its plans provided customers switch networks or upgrade. Signing up to the company’s $30 bonus plan and above will come with an additional 2GB of data per month. The offer runs for a limited time and ends 19 October.
